I was just diagnosed with NAFLD. No histology has been done. I have always had bloods within norms and mostly was told levels were excellent even when experiencing symptoms. We suspected a gallbladder problem but that has been ruled out and upper and lower endoscopy were fine but I still have some dull pain in RUQ under ribs. I only had some occasional past binge drinking in college and never drank enough to alarm my GP so doc says my condition cannot be solely due to alcohol. I am an obese but still fairly active male at 6ft 285lbs.
The NAFLD is moderate with grade 2 fibrosis according to a fibroscan. My doctor put me on Actose (piaglidizone) to help reverse this. My gastro doctor thinks it is possibly reversible but without histology they cannot give a definitive answer.
I am hopeful this is actually reversible but in my country they really shy away from histology and that is where the uncertainty seems to emerge from for my gastro doctor. I wonder if the 3 medications I take are good to help or will interact to prevent reversal. Any insight would be appreciated.
Now to my questions:
Is actose or (piaglidizone) normally used in this manner? Is this medication safe to take with both clonidine and dexmethylphenidate as prescribed?
