I have had three failed colonoscopies in the past, one being totally horrifically painful. Due to the growth of very large polyps one over 2cm I am being asked to have another colonoscopy. To say that I am terrified is an understatement. I was told by the consultant 10 years ago that I was a very unsuitable patient for colonoscopy due to bowel adhesions and looping. and if possible virtual ct colonoscopy was the way to go for me. Until now. The hospital want to remove the polyps which I understand. But I cannot have a general anaesthetic due to lung problems. So I am between a rock and hard place. Is there anyway a colonoscopy can be done with spinal aesthetic to reduce the pain? Or what other ways are there for removing these large polyps which are causing me pain and bleeding. Thank you
