Hi All,I’m new here.Although I’ve had Osteoporosis for 10yrs.

I must say from the start it’s never given me any problems,I wouldn’t know I had it if I hadn’t been told. I think it started when I was told I had Rheumatoid Arthritis,I was then tested for Osteoporosis.

I have now been on the Denosumab ( Prolia) for 10yrs,2 injections a year, which suits me just fine.

I now believe I have to change my medication to something else,as your only supposed to be on it ten years. Well when you are happy with a medication you don’t really want to change it.

I do have a lot of health issues,Emphysema, but continues stomach pain so I do worry about change.Cananyone give me any advice,Iwould be grateful for anything you can give me.

Thank you All.

Whatever you do DO NOT STOP Prolia without taking some sort of relay drug to prevent rebound fractures.

Im sure others who have stopped Prolia will come along and give more advice.

Hi! I was told I would be on Denosumab for life. Others have been told the same so I would make enquiries about it. The Osteoporosis Society could probably advise you. I’ve only been on it for just over two years. I’ve got it in writing from my Consultant that it would be for life.

oh I really hope it is for life, because it seems to suit me.

I’ve written to the Osteoporosis society but I haven’t heard nothing yet. But thank you for that, that’s given me a little hope.

Do you know, when you are due another injection of Denosumab how long you can wait after the six months without it,days weeks Ect.

It's essential to have it as close to the day it's due as possible, as rebound fractures can start occurring within a matter of weeks. I don't imagine a few days would hurt, but I would be very worried if I had to wait a couple of weeks or more.

my Consultant was quite cross that I had to wait a month late for my Denosumab. My vitamin D was quite low so they put me on a high dose of vitamin D. She’s written to my Dr to tell them I need a blood test a month before. My bones are quite bad and apparently I shouldn’t wait for the Denosumab.
