Hi everyone, I recently discovered I have a spinal fracture ,I am going for a dexa scan on Tuesday and am so worried that I won’t be able to get on the bed because of the pain.

Is it very high ?

When I had mine there was a step stool with a handle to help get on and off but my main difficulty was lying down on my back due to a spinal fracture. I wish I had taken some painkillers beforehand. The nurse will also help you on and off the bed.

Hi Glasgow22, don’t worry you’ll get help to get onto the bed. Take a couple of strong painkilers before you go. I had a spinal fracture last year and when it was getting better I strained my back slightly and had another one. So be very careful when you start to feel better. I attended a physiotherapist every week and bought a brace from him. The brace was a godsend and I still wear it when out walking. Good luck.
