I'm in the US but the table is low that they used for my dexa scan. Not sure they are all the same. but it was about the same as a couch if that helps. so it is easy to get on.
Hi Joanne, they’re not high and they will assist you - just ask - had mine 3 weeks ago. Don’t worry you’ll be fine.
Thanks, just panicking, cos of the pain.
Only human to do that. Don’t forget to to tell them that, they deal with it all the time and are used to it. Forgot to say the bed is really low and they raise it once you’re on. Once on the bed they put a block under your knees to ease back pain and it does help just make sure you get comfy before they start - they will adjust as required. Best wishes.
Hi Joanne it's just like a couch if it helps I'm just under 5ft and I managed OK they also have a little step stall for you if needed because of your back they are very good and should be aware of your injury good luck x
Thanks I'm 5ft 10 .Well used to be 😏
You should be able to ask for cushioning to ensure you are comortable on the table, but the NHS tries to save money but not buying the cushions. So demand them. In UK we put up with pain that other countries sort out. I usually phone in advance to tell scanning dept. that I will need some cushions - and they borrow pillows. Incidentally I have mobility problems but never had difficulty getting onto table.
Good luck. Hope all goes well for you.
I had a scan recently and table was low enough to get on and I am 5’1”
Sorry to hear about your back issues. My friend had two spinal compression fractures and I know that is very uncomfortable to deal with.

Hi Joanne, I am wheelchair bound, but there is a small stool to step on and the nurse has always helped me, usually always had a pillow, it only takes a few minutes, once you are comfy, they scan your back, then your hips, good luck and let us know how you get on.
Sorry to hear your news - I needed to have a body and Dexa scans when it happened to me. Everyone was very understanding about the pain and my lack of mobility etc. etc. With help, a stepping platform, pillows and extra wedges I managed. I'm sure you'll be able to get this done, don't worry - Good luck.
