I fell down some stairs recently, and have a crush/wedge fracture T3/T4. Have been to physio twice and was given 2 excercises to do which I do all the time. This was 11 weeks ago I fell and still have o lot of pain. Does anyone know the correct treatment for this injury?

As an Osteoporosis sufferer, I have had 4 spinal fractures. There is no treatment as such, you just take pain killers prescribed by GP. I was given Morphine patches, as I couldn't even stand let alone walk. Spinal fractures heal by themselves.

I also have had spinal fractures, and with surgery for spinal stenosis in Feb 16, surgeon did vertebraplasty to shore me up so to speak. Now have severe stenosis of L2/3, and on waiting list for this time a neurosurgeon to do a laminectomy . The recent cervical fractures have healed. As you say painful at the time, don’t know how they happened, but they heal themselves.

My endocrinologist has put me on Forsteo daily injections, starting when I’m back from holiday middle of June. It builds bone apparently, has to be taken for 2 years. Quite a commitment, but if it works, worth it!

Do hope you are fracture free at present? Best wishes.

I am sorry to hear this. I worry about falling down the stairs. It must have been awful. Why not give the NOS helpline a call and speak with a nurse. I have a feeling, as poemsgalore says, that there is no treatment as such, but even so, a chat with a nurse would not be amiss. FREEPHONE 0808 800 0035

Hi Doddser, I too have 3 fractures and in terrible pain, I cannot take the painkillers so rely on paracematmol. One doctor in my surgery told me basically cannot do anything!! I went privately to an osteopath who gave me some treatment, he then wrote to my doctor and suggested I needed some cortisone injections, I then had so much help as my doctor referred me to a lovely man in the local hospital, and the help is ongoing. Funny thing is the first doctor was the multi skeletel specialist in my surgery, totally useless! I can go to the gym and do aqua fit and walk now and I'm no where near in as much pain and only take a little paracetamol now. Ask your doctor to be referred for injections, she surely cannot refuse. X hope you get some

I've been diagnosed with a "very slight anterior wedging of one of the anterior thoracic vertebra" - a wedge fracture as a result of osteoporosis. This was after 3 months of chest pain on twisting, coughing or sneezing. I still have the pain, which is exacerbated by pain in the middle back to the left when I've been sitting for a long time.

I don't recall doing anything which caused it, and I'm now very cautious about exercising or lifting.

My GP and consultant say there is no treatment - just pain control. I saw a physio yesterday who said any exercise is good! he thought that strengthening the core through Yoga and Pilates will help to prevent further fractures.
