Jimmy and I made the Cypress Basin Hospice Newsletter ❤️. I know no one wants to need Hospice but it's a fact of life that many will. We were so Blessed to be referred to this one. Faith based AND non profit so they are about helping people instead of what's most profitable. They all fell in love with Jimmy. Still supportive and helpful to me. They are having their annual memorial service in February. Yesterday the bereavement counselor stopped my to ask if I'll speak at it. Share my story of losing Jimmy and how I'm learning to deal with it. I told him I could talk but not without crying but he said that's fine. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for your support and warm wishes. Just my personal opinion but judging from what I've heard so often in the different cancer support groups on Facebook, I think many times people wait too late to call in Hospice. You hear the horror stories that Hospice didn't help but many times the patient passed just a few days after Hospice was brought in or even less. Often it sounds like the family members didn't really understand what Hospice was providing as far as as care and support. If it's all done in a rushed manner I could see why there was misunderstandings or miscommunication. So many times the patient is still receiving treatment almost right until they pass. Then the oncologist finally says time to stop and call in Hospice because the patient is only hours or days from passing. That is so unfair to the patient and the family. It's just so hard to deal with and so hard to know the right thing to do. Looking back I wish I hadn't pushed Jimmy to receive the last treatment because it almost killed him. Hind sight is 20/20 though. At that moment I was just grasping at anything that could possibly give me a little more time with him. 🥺Sharon
