Amlodipine question

Does anyone know if amlodipine can be taken on an ad hoc need-to basis as opposed to a once-daily therapy?

My mom's BP is largely stable on a very low sodium diet, and only spikes if we go off track.

Thank you.

Hello Ling. blood pressure medication should only be modified under the guidance of a medical professional. If you read the leaflet that comes with the pack you’ll see that it takes a couple of weeks to come to full effect, so taking it sometimes and not others means it won’t be working properly.
