Went to see the gp today, i,ve been on 1.25 bisopropol for just over 3 weeks a, past few days have had quite a few feelings of light headiness when i,m at at work , The gp said my pressure was low and that why i was getting these feelings and has told me to buy a pill cutting machine and only take half a tablet 0.65 grams a day, in the evenings i felt ok, driving me up the bloody wall and getting me depressed.

Hello :-)

I am glad you have been to the Doctors

Have you got your own BP machine I think you might have said you have and if not I would get one and take it twice a day to make sure your BP is not to low

At least you know why you felt this way and lets hope this low dose will be just enough to keep things steady as they should be :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Hi, yes I have got a blood pressure .machine, and I,ll do what you said,I think one of the reasons it was low,is I had to walk a mile or so to get to the surgery and put the thing on the end of the finger,I'll let you how things get on,even though I,ve done a lot of walking over the past few weeks , never felt any light headed feelings, just at work, sometimes, feel one or two odd things in the evening, but have tried to do what you said and try not to worry about it

Hello :-)

Not sure what the weather is like where you are today but here it is so hot I have had to come inside

The thing on the end of your finger that is to usually check your oxygen levels or is their a blood pressure one to ?

Yes check your BP yourself and maybe while you see how this dose effects you make a record of your readings and if you BP does not start coming back up get on to them again :-) x

The finger thing is a oxemeter and gives readings of Heart Rate & Oxygen levels

I think it must be an oxygen test, usually when they do a blood pressure test, they use a wrap around the arm one,all he said was that it was low,he said if you still get the light headedness when at work come back,Don,t know what they do if it still happens and yes it has been hot.

Hello :-)

Well after walking in this heat your oxygen might have been better if they had let you have a little rest before they put it on :-)

I am guessing but if it still did happen they might change med or tell you to stop it a while to see if it goes up but lets hope it will be ok :-) x

I am on 10mg of bisoprolol and as I have normally low blood pressure my cardiologist said take them at night which I have done for years now. The longer you take the meds the better you feel if that’s any help. Xx

Thanks I,ll might try that but Gp told me to cut the 1.25 in half, pressure was low that's why I was getting light headedness and dizzy at work, starting today ,see how things go

1.25mg is the lowest dose they do. You should take it just before bed as it does drop your BP so it doesn’t matter when you’re asleep. Have you an office job where you sit a lot of the day? If so get up and walk around for a couple of minutes every hour or so. If you’re BP is lower then bending over quickly and lifting stuff could also make you lightheaded.

I was started on 1.25mg.pm. Before starting Bisoprolol I was warned by the pharmacist to watch out for side effects, but nothing happened. My work is less stressful than yours, I would suggest taking it as easy as possible. Your stressed out mate! I am also considering less hours of work for myself going forward, but working fulltime now until I feel more settled.

Yes, I do get stressed out, just get fed up with them changing the medication and not knowing what to expect.

I would strongly suggest, looking up the medication information from now on, to better understand what to expect. I know the doctors don't tell you very much, they just rely on the tests and results, then start you off on meds. That's fine, but you will have to do your own homework to make sure all is well. If in doubt contact the pharmacists, they are very helpful also.

Since my HA, I've had several meds changed, this is a normal process as our bodies adjust to the changes. The meds might be working well, but later on new things can happen and so on.....
