'Hidden' aortic stenosis?

Given a family history of aortic stenosis and the fact that I also have LP(a) which is a known risk factor, my GP is organising an echocardiogram for me; he explained that although he can't hear any heart murmur, there is a possibility that it might be 'hidden'. Has anyone else come across this? Thank-you.

Hello :-)

I have heard about this before

My experience is I do have a heart murmur it is only slight but sometimes my Doctor can hear it and other times she will say she cannot hear it at all so when she cannot hear it I wonder if that could be similar to a hidden murmur ?

Hope everything goes ok with the echocardiogram and let us know how you get on :-) x

That's really kind of you to share your experience - and reassuring! It's going to be six weeks before I hear about an appointment (NHS, UK, is not in a good place right now, alas) but I will indeed report back. I had a CT angiogram six years ago due to suspected angina (which was not found, and was probably something like costochondritis) and the calcium score was given as zero at that point, so I am hoping that nothing adverse will be found. Thank-you again.

Hello :-)

It can be really common to have these heart murmurs which turn out to not be anything serious that is even if they find one

Because of your family history I think you have a good Doctor sending you to have this done the doctor is just making sure everything is ok :-) x
