I’m post quad bypass 5 years now and have been struggling with tiredness

Been to the doctors one said it’s my age get used to it another said some people just get tired

I’m on bisoprolol small dose rosuvastatin min dose

I take b12 iron and coq10 all tests put me in the normal range

So it appears I’m stuck with it

Any ideas anyone

Iwould not accept a doctor telling me my tiredness was down to age.I am 86 and do not get tired unless I have had a really busy day ......up at c 8am and go to bed c 10-10.30pm. I suffer from insomnia which can make a little tired during the day but otherwise if I have slept i am usually awake during the day and active,.I suggest he needs to looks at underlying causes as to why you may be tired. Some docs. are just lazy and do not bother to treat the patient .I have heart failure and afib.

Ooh I'd be furious if a GP blamed symptoms just on age. Very unprofessional. When I was put on bisopralol, same dose, after my heart attack, I was so tired I could barely get out of the chair. I wanted to sleep all day. My GP immediately blamed bisopralol and took me off it. The change was immediate. You need to insist that they investigate and not just brush you off.

Yes I was given a calcium channel blocker instead but it's 5 years ago and I'm not sure of he name now. It may have been candesartan but don't quote me.

i started on bisoprolol 2.5mg july 2023 for atrial fibrillation , I’m now on 10mg a day but from day one on bisoprolol ive had really bad fatigue. Consultant said bisoprolol can do that and the best thing was to exercise, which im too tired to do 🙄

For energy can I recommend Spirulina? It works wonders. chopra.com/blogs/nutrition-...

Hi,Could be your bisoprolol even if only a small dose, I don't know about your other med, b12 is good I believe for energy Im taking that one too. I take bisoprolol and statins and other meds too. I think my tiredness is bisoprolol or statins (atorvastatin) tbh, but I do have chronic insomnia I now don't sleep at night at all, just in the day or when exhausted, trouble is I have bad headaches and nausea from it. Makes you wonder if it's getting old, your illness or your meds that make you feel so tired and no energy

Good luck

You are so right about wondering what it is

Are you only 69 - and the GP says it's your age?! Terrible. I am on low dose bisoprolol and it is a dampener but I have to stay on it due to AF. There may be alternatives if you really need them, but a specialist would be better suggesting these rather than the GP. Talking to a pharmacist may help too. They are more knowledgeable about meds than GPS. Another alternative is to take the Bisoprolol at nights to minimise the side effects. I do that with Ramipril too. Exercise helps to keep your energy up plus confidence and spirits and it can be very sociable too. Obviously maximising the quantity and quality of your sleep will help. Good luck.

How do you see a specialist (daft question I know)I’m dubious about pharmacists because they don’t know the background of illnesses

I do keep exercising as they say use it or lose it

Thanks for the reply

Have a look at the side effects in the tablet leaflets that you are taking. The GPs rarely do.

Bisoprolol is a tablet designed to slow you down, how much are you taking?
