ocular migraines after surgery

Hi all.

I had aortic valve replacement along with resectioning 5 months ago. Things have gone well.

The first month I had a lot of ocular migraines which I attributed to the opiods. However, I'm no longer on the meds I'm still getting regular migraines. I'd say weekly, sometimes a couple a week.

I'm not sure if it's screen use, exercise or stress related. Does this ring any bells for anyone?

Thanks

Colin

If migraines are new to you (i.e. you had them before your valve replacement) and they are no different, then I am not sure.

If they are new to you then I'd suggest an appointment with your GP to discuss.

morning - I had AvR 18 months ago - and yes I had ocular migraine every day for about 3 - 6 months some a minor irritation some really annoying and debilitating

Up until about October last year I was still getting them almost everyday often minor but some really annoying nonetheless . I researched and researched and eventually my son suggested a supplemental called L’Arginine L’Citrulline complex . It’s a supplement that helps open up blood vessels and I’ve been taking it since then and the number of ocular migraines has decreased significantly. I’ve had perhaps one a week maybe less .

Certainly worth a try .

Good luck and good luck with your recovery

One thing that has helped me eliminate these ocular migraines is making sure my eyes are lubricated. I use a sort of artificial tears. Might be worth trying. I can’t think it would hurt anything.
