Good morning. We are flying to Egypt in November for a hotel stay in Cairo before a week cruising down the Nile. It’s been booked for a year. Has anyone used Free Spirit travel insurance or All CleAr? My husband (68 tomorrow)had a cardiac arrest in March and has had an ICD inserted. He has had a replacement Aortic valve for 15 years and has had two strokes due to poorly controlled Warfarin as his inr checks were too far apart ( discovered after 2nd stroke that his INR fluctuates very frequently). His last stroke was in 2011. We have previously used Staysure but I have not been impressed by their phone service following his most recent episode. I’m also a stroke patient (66) but have no other significant conditions. Thank you for reading

I suggest you read this, which covers finding suitable travel insurance for those with pre-existing conditions. However I am sure that should you need to claim it can be just as unpredictable especially as some insurers, like Staysure, use third party companies to process claims, aside from from the unique circumstances of each and every claim that is made.

Thank you for your reply. It was interesting to read the information in the link. My preference would have been to use a local broker but all of the three I tried have stopped dealing with travel insurance because it has basically become a pain in the neck for them in recent years (not their descriptions but reading between the lines...) I have now taken out a single trip policy for my husband and myself from AllClear, it was a lot more than I expected to pay even though it was discounted, but as the sales advisor pointed out all prices have increased since COVID and insurance prices increase after the age of 66. A well travelled neighbour recommended AllClear which is one of the reasons for choosing them.
I think you should have had the insurance in place the day you booked. My BIL lost £3k because he hadn’t
def don’t use Staysure they are a nightmare - if interested please read my recent posts . Good luck
I have always used Good To Go Insurance. They’ve got good reviews on Trustpilot. Would also recommend taking your INR machine with you and do weekly checks, enjoy your holiday.
Different condition, but I used Avanti - thankfully didn't need to claim, but was happy enough with the service when arranging over the phone.
