heads starting to play tricks, how did people manage the build up nerves?

Wow that's getting close just 6 days away have you had your pre op yet?? I'm still waiting for my valve replacement surgery but from what I here the waiting is the worst part ❤️. Wish you all the best with your operation and keep us updated on how your recovery is going 😊😉.

Hi, pre op tomorrow. Had angiogram today so luckily went well no new nasties to deal with!!

Hope you get a date soon.

Ah glad you have your preop tomorrow hope everything goes well ☺️. Hope your angiogram went well too. Thanks all I know is I will require major surgery to replace the valve eventually so don't know when that will be.

As a person with almost no nerves, I still had a flutter when the surgical booking team called me a couple of weeks back. I still haven't got a date but was told the surgeon operates once a week and is booked until end Sept. All I did was carry on as usual, try to make your day normal.

I had to have a triple Bypass and as for someone that maybe has the worst anxiety ever before I even had to have it done I did it and so will you

I worried but that is going to be human nature for a lot of us I even made myself ill with worry but then in the end I asked myself if I do not have this done what is going to happen and I no doubt would not be replying to you now so I just resigned myself it has to be done I have no choice

I read all the posts on here posted like you and got such encouragement people telling me I would be fine and how much better my heart would be working and how the surgeons are so good at what they do and I hung onto all the positive thoughts as much as I could

See this as a new start a new you a you that will feel so much better and before you know it you will be back home on the road to recovery

From being told I'd had a heart attack to discharge was 5 weeks. I had an angioplasty and then, three weeks later, open heart surgery. I've come out with two stents, an AVR and a single CABG (bypass). I'm nearly 71 by the way.

Yes, I had nerves but more so for the AVR and CABG but I told myself it was a no brainer choice, go back to living a full and healthy life or continue to be impaired and possibly dead from a second heart attack within weeks or months.

I feel great, chest is still a bit sore since I only had my operation 8 weeks ago but improving daily. I'm back to a level of exercise I last saw over two years ago and improving daily on that too. I'm eagerly anticipating going back to a normal life and I think it is that looking forward that has brought me through. There is nothing to gain from the "why me" line of thinking ...

hi. I had a 6 month wait on the “priority” list for my first valve replacement (it was during lockdown) and it was truly awful. Tbh by the time I was given my date for surgery I was just desperate to get it over with. Use the next few days to get yourself organised and prepared for your discharge, it’ll come around quicker than you think. Good luck for your op, I’m sure that you will be absolutely fine. Xx
