Amlodipine in morning and Ramipril at night?

I have just yesterday been prescribed 5mg Amlodipine on top of the 5mg of Ramipril I’ve been taking. The GP didn’t specify over the phone if I take them both in the morning (I have been taking my BP tablet in the morning since I started 5 years ago) or to separate them out? I have read that taking them both at once can lower your BP too much so I’m worried about doing that? I am seeing my GP next week so will ask but just wanted to enquire with this community whether you are taking both at once or separated? Thanks for any replies.

I'm just on Amlodipine 5mg, which I take in the evening, cos I read that it has sleepiness as a side effect.

Can't say it has a huge effect, but I haven't had any of the other side effects either.

It has certainly lowered the BP by about 30 points in 6 weeks.

Thats all I can say about it. Good luck.

hi I didn’t know it can make you drowsy I’m on 10mg a day. Might help with lack of sleep - a bonus! But also might it make a difference to BP I get in morning average reading 155/100? Guess worth giving it a go.

hi I am on amlodipine 10mg a day (plus clopidogrel , lansoprazole and atorvastatin). No side effects I think but equally not doing anything for chest pain but BP appears uncontrolled, used to be but not lately. Going to try taking in evening per Madlegs1 .

I've been taking them both in the morning for over three years now with no ill effects as advised by a cardiologist.

I’m on 5mg of each and I take them in the morning. I haven’t had any problems.

I take my BP meds last thing at night, on the basis that they take a while to be flushed around the system and will be at their most potent in the morning, when we are generally most active.

Good Morning . Surely the quickest way to get an answer is ask your Pharmacy. They are very clued up on medication better than doctors i think. Take care. Brian

I take amlodipine in the evening and bisoprolol in the morning. Works well for me 🙂

They advise you to take ramipril in the evening as initially it can make you dizzy. If it doesn't have any effect then it can be taken when convenient

Thanks for all your replies. I’ve just spoken to a pharmacist and they have advised it is fine to take them both in the morning. Will try that and see what happens.

I also am on amlodopine 5mg and was also on losartan which was stopped about 3 weeks ago, checking how I am on just the amlodopine5 mg. However, previously was on 10mg amlodopine and my feet swelled up with that dose, apparently a side effect and our pharmacist warned me of it and it certainly did happen. I was changed to losartan which was OK and then was given amlodopine over and above, my BP was very low hence reason for stopping one to see how it goes. I take clopidogrel, lanzaprazole and have been stopped atorvastatin meantime to see if headaches stop. Sees pills can affect people differently

I had side effects with this drug - 5mg - woolly headed, migraines & flashing lights at edge of vision so Dr swapped me over to Rampiril.
