Irregular heart beat indicator on BP monitor

so notwithstanding differences in accuracy between different types of monitors (as well as cuff or wrist), anyone with a monitor that has indicator for irregular heart beat find that this is an accurate indicator in terms of heart beat issues you have. Or does it show even if you don’t have heart beat issues?

I came off diltiazem and ranexa last week and was warned by knowledgeable people on here need to watch BP. Also advised me to not stop suddenly but I’d already stopped for 48 hours I think by time I asked the question - so it’s clear the CARDIOLOGIST TOLD ME TO STOP 😊😊😊

And of course BP is higher as predicted😒

but then I wasn’t monitoring pre coming off meds so could have been like this before as my BP I felt became less controlled when I was orginally swopped from amlodipine to these. Back On lower dose of amlodipine. (For info my symptoms remain the same since coming off unless too early to tell, been 5 1/2 days).

So I started monitoring and the indicator keeps coming on and now wondering if matter of accuracy or there is an actual issue. Can come on for a normal reading and for a high reading (159/88).

My husband has paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.

I picked it up by doing his pulse when he didn't feel or look well. His usual strong pulse in rhythm felt different, he missed beats and the pulse felt very irregular.

I checked with a BP machine which had a feature to pick up the arrthymia. It confirmed my findings

Next a visit to the GP, a 12 lead ECG confirmed his atrial fibrillation.

Then he had a 3 day ECG holter test.

Some Pharmacies carry out Atrial fibrillation screening so check to see if you can get checked for AF at your local pharmacy.

Or see your GP.

I am no longer on amlodipine because of swollen ankles and thighs. I tried felodipine but it caused stomach issues. At present I am not taking anything and hope the high BP has subsided.

I was on amlodipine 10mg and losartan 100mg for years , I went for a blood test in June and was told my BP was low and to fill in a BP sheet for the week ...the results were my BP was low so they gradually stopped bot tablets....Guess what ? my BP went sky high I'm now back on amlodipine 5mg my BP is all over the shop and I keep getting an irregular heartbeat warning on my BP machine antother blood test due this Friday.
