To replace a valve is usually either by open heart surgery or by TAVi , the TAVi is often via the top of your leg. I have only heard about side access on this site.
The surgeons will not know which they intend to do until they see the results of your tests. I got given the option of TAVI or open heart. I opted for open heart.
Be guided by your surgeons, they are the ones actually doing the procedure.
Whichever is being done, if you end up with a new valve , you will be amazed at how well the staff look after you. It is so much better than most hospital procedures.
