There are several questions about travel insurance every week it seems. I suggest you search the site. Otherwise try a websearch for travel insurance with pre-existing conditions.
I’m off to the Kruger National park in nov. We went with staysure. It’s expensive but not having adequate medical insurance in Africa could bankrupt you.
Staysure & Allclear are good options. My advice is always get your insurance as soon as you book. If you click on Topics on the right of the screen you’ll find travel insurance thread which may give more options. A number of years ago I loved our Kenyan safari & was especially looked forward to dinner in the desert however I was bitten by something & spent the evening being sick. I’d say take a well prepared first aid kit! It won’t necessarily be heart that lays you low. Oh & in Mauritius take a car & driver for the day. Not too expensive & you’ll see lots more. Have a great time!
Remember to be honest with the insurance company. Bending the truth may make your insurance void! I use Staysure. Fortunately I have never had to claim on it.
A lot of people recommend Staysure, however we had a very negative experience with them in 2020, when we had gone to visit son working in Thailand. Covid struck, suddenly all flights home were cancelled, and our three week trip ended up at 8 weeks before we could get ourselves on a flight. Although we had an expensive annual policy, it had a limit for each trip (can’t remember how many days exactly) so our daughter in UK had to spend hours on the ‘phone talking to Staysure reps to get the policy extended a few days at a time, at an exorbitant amount, until we could get home. Certainly minimal sympathy for our situation and no offers of any sort of help. Original cost (2 people) had been about £800+ and we paid about the same again for the extension due to Covid situation. We didn’t make a single claim for anything, as they had a get-out clause which included Covid as an act of God!!
Shop around and use the comparison sites. I had to get insurance for my sister in law who had diabetes plus complications from this as well as having 6 stents. I went on the comparison sites and didn't get the cheapest but one with the best reports and most medical cover, (£12 million)
insure and go is the best and value i have come across, they will insure you if your stent was fitted more than 6 weeks ago.
