Breathing and coughing excercises

I've noticed in a lot of responses to questions that people recommend carrying on with their breathing and coughing excercises following open heart surgery. I wasn't given any after my surgery and am wondering what these excercises consist of as I still have breathing problems following my valve replacement. Tests have shown I do not have lung disease. Thank you for any helpful replies.

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply. I'll visit both sites and get as much help from them as possible.

I had keyhole heart surgery and advice was- take a deep breath and fill your lungs all the way to bottom (not just in your rib cage but below)

- hold 10 seconds

- then cough using the diaphragm area to cough not the top of you chest.

10 of these every hour after surgery.

I’m 3 weeks out and just doing a few times a day now.
