Lump on left forearm

Hi everyone. I had a triple bypass 8 weeks ago and am recovering very well. This week i noticed though my left forearm felt bruised, even though i havent bumped it and its not purple. They got veins from my leg and chest, so its not that. It feels like a slight swollen patch under the skin. Now it 'could be' a strain through playing on my computer game a lot. I just want to know if anyone else had this, or nothing to do with CABG. If i had blocked vein would it be obvious? Thanks very much.

Dear Xoralundra

Hello and a very warm welcome to you, I hope that this forum will offer you the support and information that it has given me and many others.

You have to remember that most of us are not medically trained, but this lump is not normal for you and needs investigation, it could be nothing but until you get it looked at you cannot rule out the worry that made you post.

When we have major surgery it tunes us into our bodies and even the slightest thing can appear out of place, I for one don’t think thats a bad thing and to be honest with you if I had not ignored some of my symptoms { all man me }i would not {maybe} be in the state I was.

Listen to your body and if something appears wrong then contact your Dr/Heart Team at the very lest it should be recorded on your notes.

Take care and please keep us informed.

Hi Xora. As Blue1958 suggests, it's best to get it checked by either your GP or heart team. I don't suppose you had an amiodarone infusion at any point (used for dangerous arrhythmias), did you? When I was admitted with ventricular tachycardia, I was given an infusion - they actually had to stop it early, as it was burning me as it went in, and I ended up with a large lump on the inside of my elbow, which lasted for 2 or 3 months. Although if yours has only just appeared 8 weeks after your CABG, it's unlikely to be that. Just a thought. xx

Thank you

Hi all thanks for replies. I saw my cardiac physio today and whilst not a GP she is sure it's not connected to my surgery. If persists i will see GP, but as no complications with my surgery she is sure thats not to blame.

Good. Hopefully it will soon disappear of its own accord x
