Hi, I’m asking on behalf of my mum- can anybody recommend some sort of personal ecg that can be used with your iPhone? Is there such a thing?! she seems to think there is!
Thank you

The Apple Watch can do ECG’ s I have sent copies from mine to my cardiologist (at his request) on a few occasions.
Also Kardia do one amazon.co.uk/Kardia-Mobile-...
Both are accurate but are only a single lead ECG.
Thanks so much, so the actual apple watch can do it?
Yes, but not the earlier ones and I don’t think the new cheaper one does either, but best check. Like I said they are only equivalent to a single lead ECG but are accurate.
I recently got the Apple Watch series 7 and my cardiologist looked at the results - the AF recorded correctly - at the time there were a few that said NSR but he checked and they weren’t Yesterday I had CV and the results look totally regular and Apple is apparently recognised by NICE so I’ve been told
Many thanks for your help
I posted a link to it above 😏
My understanding that personal ecg monitors like the Kardia are only useful for certain heart conditions like arrhythmia (although there might be others). I recently asked the cardiology consultant if a Kardia would be useful in my heart disease circumstances and he said not to bother. So find out why there is a perception that it is needed before buying something.
Really, well my consultant cardiologist loves them, bought one for his father in law after he saw mine. A GP at my surgery was thrilled and videoed me using mine so he could use it in his trading programs
Ps there’s now a 6 lead one but my Consultant says the one lead is perfectly fine
Fantastic if you have one of the conditions that this kit is designed to monitor, which perhaps includes yourself
But not for everyone with heart disease, apparently, including me.
I agree with Lowerfield, the Kardia monitor is helpful to pick up arrthymias such as Atrial fibrillation.
The important question is why do you feel you need to monitor your heart this way?
A 12 lead ECG will be required to assess for other heart issues such as a lack of blood supply to the heart muscle.
My Cardiologist's instructions to me is that I need to have a 12 lead ECG.
I asked my GP about them a few years ago. He was unenthusiastic even dismissive.
Kardia for sure.
Really simple to use. Can be used with a smart phone or tablet and in my opinion is more accurate than Apple Watch (I have both). Also Dr Dave, the inventor of the device is a sometime poster on the AF Forum. It has been well trialled and approved for use in US, UK and Europe and is probably the best known. You can email traces, produces abbreviated monthly reports which my EP loves and it keeps a full history. I’ve used since 2013 - have to say on my second as the first fell apart.
My new one does a 1 lead (lead 1) or a 6 lead trace. 1 lead is adequate for simple arrythmias but if your cardiologist requires more information the 6 lead may be better as it gives almost as much info as a 12 lead but not nearly as much as an implantable device which would be the gold standard.
I would agree with Lowerfield - Depends what you are monitoring for?
Kardia began as AliveCor and the website still keeps it’s name as AliveCor. All the info you need is here along with simple video explaining how it works.
The app cardiosignal. Free trail. Thene about 50$ a year. No whatch no item neded. Just lay your Phoen on the chest and breat one minut.
Apple watch
Apple watch etc out of my budget so did a bit of research and found this Veepoo Health Smart Watch on amazon - which does ECG - Heart Rate - Blood Oxygen etc. Combined with the smart phone App I have found it to be a great bit of technology and fulfilled my casual needs having recently recovered from a double bypass.Checked some of the functions against other equipment and it matches reading and my partners daughter who is in the medical profession was impressed at the ECG function from the watch.
Hi Willow. Apple Watch, in the free health app, has an ECG. It checks for atrial fibrillation and heart rate. I don’t know how accurate it is.
Kardia .....use it every dday
I have Apple Watch series 7 that does ECGs and it will specifically pick up atrial fibrillation. I think maybe the Series 6 does as well but no earlier than that - you’d have to check. Obviously they are expensive to buy up front but I got mine on a pay monthly deal from my mobile provider. I like it because I can do an ecg easily wherever I am and whatever I’m doing.
Kardia for sure, what else are you going to pick up that dosent require a hospital visit, advised by my cardiologist to pick up Afib and abnormal rhythm, tachycardia and bradycardia. Nothing you can buy will pick up a heart attack.
Hi I use the Alive Cor Kardia mobile which works with iPad & Iphone. £99 on Amazon
