I found this on the NHS

What is a normal BNP reading?

Normal: Less than 100 pg/mL. High: More than 400 pg/mL. Between 100 to 400 pg/mL requires a doctor's evaluation.

That's interesting, thanks. At my recent cardiologist appointment, I expressed the feeling that I was still retaining fluids, my ankles are skinny and bony (only part that is) so it didn't look it. I just realised I was feeling a bit bloated and breathing was still a bit rough at times. So he did a BNP test and it came back over 400 (can't remember the actual figure) I did remember people getting levels of over 1000. Anyway he increased my furosemide dose

my BNP last year was 1,580 had to see cardiologist within two weeks!! Had a phone call!!! Under 300 no HF , over 400 likely HF, but still on same meds !! Haven’t heard anything else from anyone! Test was NT pro BNP 1,580

was prescribed Bisoprolol ,Rampiril,Apixaban , have blood tests regularly ( not heart ones) thyroxine , haven’t seen or heard from cardiologist or GP so just plod on!! Good days and bad days!! Stopped taking the water tablet BUMEX as felt bad on it! So that’s where I am now! Might try to get face to face GP appointment to find out how I’m doing???? Forgot to say I have CKF stage 3 B !! That’s what blood tests for !!

How did that happen ? I’m 180 and a little worried it’s not the normal 100

No idea how it happened. But meds got it under control quite quickly.

There is a difference between BNP and NTproBNP.Everyone should consider this.

I understood these to be the same thing, BNP being a shortened version of the name.?

Edit:

So a quick Google has confirmed that (put simply) they are different tests but basically give the same results, so I've learnt something today. 🤔
