This was during a scan because of post-Covid issues. It seems I have a calcium score of a little over 3, which is tiny in itself but puts me on a percentile to have much more severe blockages by my mid-50s, and from everything I've read there's no real way of avoiding this (although I can slightly improve my chances with improved diet, statins etc).
I'm struggling to reconcile myself with the news, I have no family history of heart disease, never smoked, not overweight, eat reasonably healthily etc. All my grandparents lived into their mid-80s, didn't die of heart disease, my parents are fit and healthy in their early 70s. There's a theory Long Covid causes atherosclerosis, so maybe it's that.
I guess the hardest thing for me is, there are no further scans, I'll be put on statins and it's then just fingers crossed, if symptoms arise then they'll be dealt with then. But the first symptom could be dropping dead.
This is minor league compared to some of the stuff on here but I'm just struggling to get used to the idea.
