Cardio ablation query

I’ve been diagnosed with AF for about 5 yes after spending a week in hospital with a racing heart beat. I’m on several drugs such as amniodarone, rampiril, bisoprolol and rivaroxaban. My heart has been in sinus rhythm since, though the left chamber of my heart is enlarged. My question is that I mention to my consultant about coming of some of the drugs or having less toxic drugs and now they want me to consider cardio ablation. This I’m told will probably only last about two years. My dilemma is should I go for this or carry on as I’m doing. I don’t know which is the b st option and can’t speak or see anyone for advice.

Dear Gillanne1

You state in your post that you “ can’t see or speak to anyone for advice “ and yet you have had a consultation with a cardiologist that has advised you about ablation of your heart.

The cardiologist would not have put you forward for this procedure if he/she did not think that you would benefit from it.

As for balancing if it would be good for you as against just taking medication, then I think few on here will be able to answer you.

Please Gillanne1 get back in touch with your cardiology dept and ask for a heart failure nurse to contact you.

They will be able to read through your notes and answer any questions that you have on this procedure, something you need to know and understand before you sign the consent form to go ahead { or not if you decide }

I hope you get clear answers , keep asking till you do, that will make it clear to you in what direction to go.

Take care

Hi Gillanne1

There is a forum on Health Unlocked just for people with AF. Put your post on there and you will get lots of replies. Amiodarone is not a good drug to take long term.
