Precautions for meeting up over Christmas

Had heart failure 10 years ago. On medication. Over 70 years old. What advice on meeting up with adult son who has not yet had booster jab (had first 2 vaccinations)? I have had all vaccinations. Is it okay to meet with him indoors for couple of days over Christmas? What precautions should we take?

These are very personal decisions but I would not meet up. My adult son has had 3 jabs and has just got Omnicron. He is a careful person and drives everywhere but he got it just the same.

Dear Folky100

I think that you are in a situation that only you can answer,

Guidelines are changing from the government even as I type.

If it’s a more of “what are you doing” question then the answer is that I am being cautious and not rocking the boat, I have plenty of time to do that when I’m fully recovered.

Your case is different and you must weigh up the risks over your loving family, very hard to do.

My thoughts are with you.

Hi folky. What a difficult problem for you. Assuming government advice doesn't change, only you can decide. However, possibly the fact that you have asked this question may mean you have an idea of the "best" answer. If you do decide to meet up - and I know the emotional pull of family is strong - make sure the rooms are well ventilated, get outside for a walk if possible and follow all the hygiene rules we have had to get used to. Best wishes for a happy Christmas whatever you decide to do. X
