Rivaroxaban (Xarelto) and Dental work/Implants

Hi

Is anyone on Rivaroxaban and had dental work … teeth extractions or even implants done …. How’d did you get on?

Im trying to find out medically from my cardiac nurses as my dentist doesn’t know and wonders if I can stop them on the day or prior etc …

I’d mentioned too that I read that dental work should be kept to a short time frame as much as possible but they are keen to get as much done in one go as possible….

Any thoughts, comments or experiences would be appreciated

Thanks x

OK, I am on exactly the same medication, and I have been to the dentist twice this year , once for check up and anothe rot have a filling. My dentist noted I was taking the medication and carried on with no warnings of stopping for the day.

I suppose if you are having a tooth out where bleeding can occur, that might be different, but I haven't had that situation yet.

Hope you get a satisfactory answer though...

I am/was a dentist. Anticoagulants aren’t a problem unless you are considering multiple extractions or major surgery. Your dentist should know this and should be able to explain it all. It’s part of the job.

I take Rivaoxaban and was asked to stop taking it a couple of days before having treatment. This is perfectly safe to do so. I had a tooth removed and no problems whatsoever. Hope this helps.
