Unfortunately yes, ongoing problems 20 months on. Talk to your cardio rehab team they were great in advising me of how I could help myself.

Got discharged months ago. Afraid I have started with chest pains again so have a telephone appointment on 2nd September. Feels never ending.

I emailed them even after discharge, they were great.

yes if its the leg where they harvested veins for your cabg then it comes with the territory as nerves are cut through and whilst they may reattach through time some take their time or never do, for me its a small price to pay. 2 & 1/2 yrs on and still some areas not fully back but I've gotten used to it

As said, it comes with the territory when having a CABG or 2,3 or 4.

I have a scar almost the length of my left leg from ankle to almost top of thigh, and yet it seems as though all the post op effects seem to occur only below the knee - and seem to get more enhanced as you move down to the foot.

TBH, I'm not expecting it to completely disappear, even if it does get better over time. For me, it's a small price to pay...

Thanks everyone - that makes sense. I don't have a cardio rehab team - had my surgery under private health cover and then the transfer to NHS got caught up in the beginnings of covid.

Hi Suebedoo. My cabg was in Jan, the left leg was where they harvested the veins. I had my leg raised for most of the next 3 months whenever sitting.

For me the minor pain in the leg lasted a couple of weeks, turning to mild discomfort. Now, 7 months later, most of the time I don’t think about it, though there are still some numb bits in my leg. In short, it should ease and you should also get more used to it!

All the best

yes ive got it.ever since my 2 triple bypasses in 1992@30 n nxt one in2007 aged 46.....what drs dont tell its lke starting a new n different waay of life sadly

Hi Sue. Yes, after my CABG my right leg was so tingly that it kept me awake (along with everything else that keeps you awake after a CABG!). None of my donor artories were harvested from my leg, they were both from my chest, so whatever caused it it wasnt from harvesting. After a while it subsided and the tingling went but at nears two and half years post op I still get spells of my right leg being numb.
