Generally they are for life, except Ticagrelor as you say.
Whether or not there’s any scope to reduce any of them would be a question for the doctors, but most people that have had one heart attack need to take these kinds of meds for life. As you’ve had several, I suspect the likelihood is these are permanent, particularly as they’re all seen as protective or maintenance treatments to prevent another heart attack or cardiovascular issue going forward. My mum had what’s been described as an extremely mild NSTEMI a couple of years ago, (miraculously mild given she had a total blockage of the LAD), ending up on the same meds as you, and the only med dropped was the ticagrelor as you mention. Amlodipine and ramipril are blood pressure meds, so are required to keep your blood pressure down. Bisoprolol is used to help control rate and rhythm, as well as reduce any premature contractions (which are generally harmless, but my understanding is that high numbers can be associated with increased risk of heart attack and poor outcomes in those that have already had a heart attack). Aspirin is a blood thinner, required as heart attacks can be caused by clots, and the omeprazole is to protect the stomach from the aspirin, as well as the ticagrelor to some extent. Atorvastatin will be to get your cholesterol down, or keep it down if it’s already good, to reduce the risk of more heart attacks.
Not for everyone, I'm on ticagrelor as well as aspirin and a few others since 2011, the only time I've been off it is when I had a knee replacement. Being off them caused another heart attack. I've been reviewed so many times they keep adding more medications. Just the luck of the draw. I'm fortunate not to have side effects. Take care.
