Exactly the opposite.

Beta blockers are designed to suppress the adrenaline receptors and calm sympathetic nervous system.

Hello and welcome to the forum! The action of beta blockers are as vinixxx describes which leads to a reduction in BP and HR. With beta blockers the commonest side effects are over reduction of these called hypotension and bracycardia respectively. One thought is that you are developing ectopic beats. It would be best to talk too your GP about your symptoms.

A friend has virtually eliminated his ectopics by eliminating alcohol, caffeine, chocolate and spicy foods from his diet. This is something really easy to try.
