Spasm/cramps upper abdomen

Which lead to breathlessness. My sats however are normal 97-99 (Bisoprolol keeping my heart down)! I’ve been in the hospital to get it checked several times when I’ve gone in for the SVT’s these last weeks and no one knows what it is. It’s possible it’s acid reflux, anxiety disorder, the Bisoprolol, some low mineral or the multiple SVT I’ve been having. I have no idea. it’s very very distressing and upsetting and no one seems to know what to do or what it is. I spent the whole morning crying. The pain is unbelievable and all they do in hospital is put me on IV paracetamol because I can’t have biscopan and I can’t have lots of other pain drugs. One Gastro suggested it was post viral because we suspect I had the virus back in March. GP put me on diazepam, the Gastro put me on Lorazepam but they just make me feel so rotten. I suspect it’s because they’re a muscle relaxant and as i’m having problems breathing it feels like my lungs droop with them. It could even be Asthma that’s causing the spasm, because I’ve been using a powder inhaler and I tapped it losing a dose this morning and there didn’t seem to be anything coming out on my hand. I’m literally at a loss I don’t know who to turn to. I don’t really know where to post this challenge is all intermingle with different areas.

That sounds very painful.I suppose if you are having upper abdominal cramps the spasms would make it difficult to breathe.I had a problem with my upper back a while ago and that left me breathless. How well are you eating at the moment?Did they advise what to eat and what to avoid?Hope you get some relief.

Did your back resolve or you still managing? I’m not eating great. I mean I’m trying to get 3 small meals a day and a little snacking. I’m usually a great eater but the illness has massively reduced it to half my usual cals. I’m eating a kind of alkaline type thing with high fibre. Avoiding high fat, chocolate, spices, citrus, garlic, tomato, onions...

Thank you, had enough, like really enough. Too distressing and no answers

Yes, my back is fine now.An osteopath said I have two kinks in my spine, one at the base and one level with my lungs. The lower back has been fun in the past...bent over double in agony but the one higher up had me gasping...very scary!Little and often would seem to be the way to go re. food.I get arrhythmia too...the cardio said I have irritable atria sometimes and some ectopics.I take propanolol for that.It sounds like yours is much worse. That's all you need on top of everything else.I hope they sort it out soon.

I had severe upper abdominal pain and thought it was my heart again (HA July 2017). I had two endoscopies and they found that it was stomach inflammation , ulcers and polyps. My tastes completely changed, I can’t eat meat or fish or anything fatty or strong tasting. I also had upper back pain and still do. It took several months before I got a diagnosis. I hadn’t realised how high up your gut is.

How are you doing now? What have they done to treat you? What kind of food are you eating? My Gastro said he’ll find nothing if he does an endoscopy. I had an ultrasound 10 days ago and all that showed was a couple of very small polyps in my gallstones and nothing else in that area. He keeps telling me this is a post viral syndrome.

Hi Grace, I’m doing well now thank you. My taste remains dramatically changed and I have adapted my lifestyle. I stopped taking ibuprofen and only take pain killers when very necessary. I lost weight and have become much fitter. If I eat the wrong food I feel sick so I don’t eat fried foods, meat or fish, strong foods like curry etc. Lifestyle changes have worked, I also take emeprozol for stomach acid. I hope you get a diagnosis soon.
