My Heart Attack

Well I had a heart attack and died in my sleep. Fortunately my partner woke up and realised something was not right and started immediate CPR and called an ambulance. I was taken to Portsmouth QA hospital where they found I had a blockage to the heart and fitted a stent. I was kept in Critical Care where I had a further five heart attacks. I was kept in a coma for about a month. I developed Pneumonia as well as MRSA. I am now fully recovered.

In February of last year. It was certainly a blouse call.

Thought that:) Good thing your partner didn't panic, and so good to read a year on you're back on your feet. Did you do cardiac rehab as part of your recovery?

Yes I did seven weeks of cardio rehab. I must say the post event care was very good

Hi Philealing

Welcome to the forum.

You certainly had an eventual February 2019, and welcome for your partner having staying calm and performing CPR.

I see your on ticagrelor according to your profile. After my heart attack/cardiac arrest in December 2018 it was one of the medicines I was put on - finished taking it after the prescribed 12 in December 2019 - so glad to be rid of it, never caused me any problems beyond being covered in bruises all the time, it's so good not to have all those bruises - I assume you'll be taken off ticagrelor very soon.

Yes that is correct. I am due to come off then later this month. I assume I simply stop 12 months after my incident.

Yes, the hospital put to stop after 12 months on my discharge note, and in Patient Access under medications it was listed as - discontinue on 28/12/2019

Hi, I am on ticagrelor after the 12 months to continue for a further 3- 4 years on 60mg dosage. Agree totally with the bruising it can get quite annoying at times. My large dog is a little clumsy and sometimes steps on my feet. The bruises for this are black and blue.

At some stage too I have managed to bruise the back of my shoulder, lord knows how.

Glad to hear you have made a great recovery.
