I'm just about to walk my dogs so this post will be short. The article above is behind a paywall, but I purchased it and will share it with anyone who asks. Long story short the study is saying what I have been saying for years. The fact that NIAGEN boosts Sirt1 activity is key, and that fact separates Niagen from all other forms of vitamin B3 which are Sirt1 inhibitors, AND Niagen is likely helpful for many, many central nervous disorders, AND this activity is due to Niagen's ability to dramatically boost NAD+ production in humans.
One interesting fact from this study was that although they actually tested Niagen in mouse models of SCA7, they also tested human brains (post mortem) for signs that what they were seeing in mice as the problem that was fixed by Niagen did in fact occur in humans as well.
Anyways, more later.

Hi Joe- could you forward me a copy of the study? Great news! Ihave been taking Niagen for 2 1/2 yrs now. I’ll email you so you have my email to respond.
Good day Nami! could you pls. share your view of using Niagen? wondering if you can help finding the suppl. (niagen) in Pakistan. I have SCA1. Thought of having positive after using. I am positive.
No, I have SCA1, but SCA7 is so very similar, and the study actually examined a cellular process that is similarly broken in many neurological disorders. That is one reason why Niagen is in multiple human clinical trials for several different disorders including, Parkinson's and Mitochondrial Myopathy
I have read your posts on your hard work going to therapy for a decade now, and I can think of few people on this forum who can offer better inspiration to get out there and do the best they can. You inspire us all
thanks for sharing this info, I'd love to see this and pass it on to the consultant too. Do you know if it's also effective for SCA2 by any chance. My husband is ready to try anything.
Does anyone have any experience/good result from complementary therapies and if so which ones?
For ataxia, you do the Romberg test. Stand with your back to a corner and put a chair in front of you without touching either one. The idea is to protect yourself from falling if you lose your balance while doing the test. Stay safe. You stand still with your feet together and arms at your side for 30 seconds. Do you sway? Now close your eyes. What happens? For me, closing my eyes causes severe swaying, it's loss of proprioception, the sense of where your body is located in space. This is called sensory ataxia.
I start physical therapy next month, there is evidence that the brain can be retrained and ataxic symptoms improved.
Sunvox has been banned from this forum so he can’t respond. Tru Niagen has a website and you can purchase from Amazon. I have been taking this along with other supplements and can report that my early symptoms have improved. But please consult your physician.
