Just come back from my annual asthma revue, having been told I probably have COPD caused by smoking (I stopped 40yrs ago). But I in February I had a spirometry test and was told it definately was asthma. Wish this could be sorted!

COPD OR ASTHMA
Ask for a referral to a lung consultant more tests and a specialist will clarify the condition and the treatment that gets you sorted out. The differences can be subtle when a mild level of COPD are mixed with Asthma.
I have had asthma since I was 27 years old and I have just been diagnosed with borderline mild/moderate copd. Although the asthma symptoms seem less apparent I feel worse in my general health. Keep asking your gp or asthma nurse for further clarification! Good luck. Heather
Hi
Please call the BLF Helpline - 03000 030 555 - and have a chat with one of the nurses.
Long term asthma can result in permanent changes in the airways - people then getting told they have copd. It is possible to have copd and asthma.
Not sure if your smoking history is relevant - would depend on how long you smoked and amount smoked.
