I am sure that I have read somewhere that there is a pilates or yoga regime that is ideal for reducing stress and generally helping with breathing problems which can be done sitting down. Does anyone know if this is right or am I having a senior moment?

Pilates is something I have just signed up for. Its all about strengthening your core and improving posture. I spoke to the instructir prior to signing up and she said she had had a number of folk do the course who have breathing difficulties. its also good because you go at your own pace. My physio recommended strongly that I consider it.

I used to do Pilates and loved it, unfortunately the class is now on days I tend to be working. So I do Tai Chi instead.

thanks for these, they look the right sort of thing although I am not sure that my aged brain would retain the exercises without peering at the laptop each day lol. I did find a couple of dvds on Amazon and one for yoga. Think I need to do some more research before deciding on which one.

I do yoga tai chi and pilates and manage them all within my own comfort zone.I do these classes at ny local community centre. Many people come for a lesson and see which they can do or prefer.I would ask for a trial lesson. You can sit on a chair for all of them
