should i worry

bit of a strange one this. i've got emphysema, breathings fine atm but chest keeps getting tight. sats keep dropping to 91% when i walk around and 93 at rest ( slight bluish at base of nails ) should i worry. normally i get around 96 at rest and drop to 93-94 and goes straight back up. i no longer smoke and was diagnosed with moderate emphysema.

Perhaps you should call to the Doc and just let him listen to your chest. He may be able to hear the start of an infection and it would put your mind at rest. Take care. TAD x pS Though my husband has days out of the blue when he is just not as well

Some of your sats are a slightly low, so I would suggest you request an oxygen assessment from your GP.

My peak flow reading is up to 400 though normally 330-350

. Just seems strange

I wish my sats and peak flow were at those numbers. I would be very happy !

I have always been led to believe that if your sats don't go below 90 then there is nothing too much to worry about! However if you are really worried see your doc for assurance!

well things are just about back to normal now thanks, seemed to be a mini cold i think.

my sat improved up to 350 after stopping smoking 18 months ago (was on 40 a day) but i don't think i'll ever get much higher than 400 which i know is really good but no where near the 650 it was 4 years ago. the consultant at the time said that my emphysema was moderate and i have some fibrosis on the lungs , i had been helped by the fact that i used to run 7 miles most days up untill a few years ago. thanks again for your advice and puffthemagicdragon i'm sorry your sats aren't as good and wish i could help you.
