Diabetes is it a risk ?

Can we get diabetes because we can not do enough to stop it or is there something that will help with this.

Unfortunately, as a side effect, any steroid medication can increase any diabetes results, that's what I was told in hospital when the readings were higher than usual

yes I was tested for it while in hospital ,and yes it'sthe steriods .After a transplant it's almost expected and it very treatable .just add it to the list ,as with bone problems .take care is the key .

Mmm don't know if COPD and amount of steroids caused my Diabetes or if due to family trait. However looking at the bright side - at least I don't have to pay for my prescriptions any more!!!

Hi,

I have had type 2 diabetes for 18 years now but only 3 years with COPD. I take insulin 5 times a day, so from a drugs point of view its a pain but you only suffer if you eat the wrong food or do not take your injections, so a more immediate effect.

I have not noticed any effect on my COPD (moderate). I have also got an underactive thyroid and had a bypass three years ago.. But soldier on I must!
