I didn't work when the children were little, then I got a job in a school, for the hours, but the school dinners were a bonus, yummy, not like when I was a kid, the custard and rice pud, mmmmmmmmmm, but that's another story. When Richard had a stroke 20 years ago that all changed, once he was on the road to recovery he sort of made me redundant, all the housework I'd done for 20 odd years was all wrong, not "his" way So I got a full time job in an estate agency, perfect for a natural nosy parker who rides on the bus at dusk so I can look in peoples windows, being able to see inside peoples houses and getting paid for it, heaven, got some good ideas and some shocks, and once I got fleas, another story. Give him his due my tea was already cooked when I got home, and he washed up while I watched the soaps, we have sort of always been a good team.
Richards mum was a mrs Maleprop, and he is master Maleprop, we have had some laughs over the years, he likes a drop of farmhouse grouse whisky, and a nice plate of chicken tikka michelle, or kroma. His latest have been the twins off x factor, you know them, wedgewood, and the canadian flag, easy to recognise because it has a maypole on it.
When he started with this chest problems the roles began to reverse once again, it wasn't an easy transfer because he could be so unwell, but he hasn't lost the knack of entertaining me with his lugubrious sense of humour, the children once went into shock for days when they heard him actually laugh out loud, a rarity. And he still takes me out on all nighters, albeit he is sat on a hospital trolley bed in a and e while they find him a bed, and I am sat on a hard chair, once for 7 hours, plenty padding on me bum still, not like him, he's lost so much weight that his skin could do with a good ironing. . We have to look at the silly things that happen and laugh. Like the fact that he can't have a mobility scooter because he's never had a driving licence and I plain out and out refuse to walk in front of a mobility scooter with a red flag. My aim here is to try to makeyou smile. I ahave a hundred stories about his malepropisms and his deafness , but that's another story.
Incidentally, one thing I find tiring with copd is the ironing - these days it's left to pile up in the futility room
