Winter Fuel Allowance Petition by Age UK

Please, could everyone on the site go to the Age UK site and sign their petition to the Government regarding the Winter Fuel Allowance being withdrawn. They are going to Downing Street in February and want as many names as possible to support this petition. The elderly and sick in our society who are not now getting the allowance are really suffering. Many are sitting in their homes unable to heat them properly. As we Lungees know we need heat to keep well breathing in cold air is really harmful. So even if you do not need this allowance, if you have friends or family who do need it, please sign this petition. Our weather is changing and as we all know people are in real need now, so do a good turn and sign this petition please.

Unfortunately it won't ever revert back never does..once they take it off you you won't get it back. My heart goes out to those living alone and vulnerable. Same goes with TV licence I pay that also. XxSheila

My husband and I are not entitled to any benefits.. because we chose to save our money and own our own house.This I don't think is fair as there are some who have never worked a day in their lives living off the. Government etc. Claiming every benefit possible..

It's the Government's fault for allowing this and not doing necessary checks.. Without us tax Payers there would be no benefits.

I was in the dentists listening to a perfectly healthy looking married couple bragging about how many times they go abroad on holiday. .per year. They were in their 50's. The husband was filling his wife's form for. The dentist. Their treatment free as on all these benefits ,didn't work etc.

Myself at 80yrs old pay in full for my dentist work.. also glasses etc.

The dentist was annoyed as I was there with my tank of oxygen struggling and they thought it great to brag about their lifestyle.disgusting

At least I have my pride and proud of my husband and myself who don't have to rely on. Handouts

I really feel for the Pensioners suffering in this cold weather my heart goes out to them.

I see many out and about deciding jobs they don't want to take. Bragging about going swimming out for lunch etc, receiving housing allowance when they should have their benefits stopped, that would give them a wake up call instead of taking and not giving anything back xx.Sheila I will sign now 👍

Hi garshe, I am in the same position as you we have provided for ourselves in our old age and I agree with everything you said. People should be encouraged to provide for themselves, however, the fact is that many people through ilhealth or circumstances cannot afford to live well. Please think about your relatives and friends who are not able to afford heating. Please sign the petition. Take care, Maximonkey

I am sure there are older folk who would love their income. Yet they struggle on often silent and too proud. I remain furious for those who are near the threshold or have saved a small sum often through thrift and have now been thrown to the wolves. I am too young for the WFA and would not be one of those pensioners in need.

Well said Dottie. I hope you have signed the petition? Sick people as we know on this forum need more cash than well folk. I cannot understand why any Government would not realise that sick folk who get an allowance for their illness do not need help with energy bills. It is beyond comprehension. Take care Maximonkey

in my city there are no nhs dentists and I can't afford to pay for private treatment. not all people on benefits have holidays every few months.and I won't get a pension till I'm 67.

Almost all on benefits in Wales go on holidays at least 4 times a year..Bragging on FB..and neighbours.i see off every 6 weeks. .they dont work so we tax Payers are paying for their holidays.

They have free gym membership. Free swimming lessons and many more freebies. They choose not to work as many are able bodied just lazy

.also sometimes get more money not working. .live with partners not husbands and then get double benefits....the tv programme Bread comes to mind lol xx😱

I don't live in Wales and I thought this site is not supposed to be political and yes I got my winter feul payment this year as I'm entitled to it and free prescriptions ect and pip and universal creditas is my entitlement.

I'm not being political just stating the facts as I see it.I know there are many that are entitled to benefits like yourself.. those that get Pension Credit get all the other benefits etc

But there are far too many that play the system, and these are the ones that spoil it for others.. I'm pleased you are getting help. Good luck to you xx Sheila
