That's nice BOxermad, I remember quite a few special people who've stopped posting & replying to posts. My heart goes out to them and am very grateful for their friends & relatives who let us know why or how they are. Warm thoughts to all of them wherever they are - especially those living alone.
That’s odd. I’ve noticed it’s very quiet here, considering there are over 56,000 members.
Well this forum has been going for quite a few years now. Not everyone contributes and some are no longer. By and large people post when they have an issue and then don't anymore. I think this is common with most forums.

Good afternoon BOxermad, good to hear from you . Hopefully everyone is well just busy in their home lives. I am not on so often due to my most recent health diagnoses and treatment but I am trying to reply to some friends on here. I have had radiuotherapy which indicates the severity of my illnesws I think. Hope you are keeping well and well prepared for Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and a Healthy new year. 🦌🌲🍷🍰

Don't go out thesedays, in my PJ'S now. I got diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension on top of my Copd so now on 24/7 oxygen. Oh well suppose there are many worse off than me. Have a lovely day sending hugs xxSheila ❤️

I now buy for my Granddaughter as she is my World..my clothes purchases have been PJ'S and dressing gowns..I have treated myself to a Joe Browns dress and necklace for xmas. haven't worn it yet hoping to get dressed up on Xmas Day.I hope you have a very happy Christmas and a healthy 2025..I have lost contact on here lately but will keep in touch more often in the New Year.

SAdly I am not but untill Januaries appointment theres not much I can do but make the best of a difficult situation. My local hospice has advised to go out and enjoy the festive season before the new appointment next year. So heres to a happy Christmas and every best wish to you .

SAdly Izb1, I have got some terrible side effects of the radiotherapy but now someone is listening to me we have found some solution for treatment , then I will be making a list of questions for the DR for my next appointment. Its very strange all the things that have happened, not like other cancer patients. So Happy Christmas and new year to yourself let you know how the January appointment goes. x

Wishing you well for your appointment in January. My youngest Daughter finished her radiotherapy and Chemotherapy in August. Now back in work after 10months off. It's been a horrendous year, hoping 2025 will be a good one for us both xx.Sheila

I have tried to contact Sheila. (Angel something) she had 3 beautiful daughters, unfortunately she lost one ,Dee. Last I heard from her she wasn't well . Miss her xx.Sheila

That's her Caspiana. I know she was really unwell and had a lot going on which wasn't great. Yes you are right as she was so close to Dee her daughter.
We have been on here many years and have lost friends along the way.
Lots of newcomers now who we can hopefully support.

I am still here! Today is my 70th birthday. Along with my triplet brother and sister. Not bad for someone in New Cross Hospital who came into this world as a three and half pounder . I had to go back into hospital shortly after and was given the last rights as I was so poorly, I pulled through . My siblings and I are all ok enjoying life. My parents received a letter of congratulations off the Queen. ( I could not read at the time ). In those days there was little technology and I was kept warm with hot water bottles. Wolverhampton and we were regularly featured in the Express and Star.

How amazing to be a triplet. I was born in Wolverhampton 86 years ago but have never been back there. At 2 years old I was evacuated to Canada and spent the 6 years of the duration of the war there before coming back with my sister to parents that were like new to me. We travelled back on our own she at 14 and myself at 8 years old from Vancover to Liverpool across Canada on the sleeper train and then on the great liner Mauritania to Liverpool. Irrelevant to your post I know but just wanted to contribute to the forum. Happily my chest has suddenly decided to improve so I am hoping for a cough free Christmas and wish you and everyone else the same.

Yes we are a unique breed. Mom used to say take on one you take on three! My brother is identical to me and at school we used to swap classes. All three of us went into the Merchant Navy. I was a deckhand but my two siblings were navigation officers . I remember working on P & O’s Oriana November 74 leaving Southampton on the World Cruise to Australia sailing down Southampton Water we passed a big Container Ship coming back from the Far East - my twin was working on the bridge!! He left the navy and went into the oil industry and he worked in Calgary for a few years and loved it there.
We communicate ! He recently purchased a house in Shrewsbury and I purchased the same new house here in Tamworth . The company did a feature on us. I have been drinking in a bar in Fiji and a guy has mistaken me for my brother. Crazy world but great to be a triplet

Loved your reply and you certainly saw the world. One further point was that the ship we went out on in 1940 was The Duchess of Athol, this ship was torpedod on its next voyage across the Atlantic so we were very lucky then!!

many thanks for your good wishes. At 70 I have gained weight. Being a triplet one had to eat quickly! In my day one had to eat what was in the plate. So when I go to slimming World I have to tell them it was how I was brought up😜 Best wishes for Christmas

I used to have to eat what I was given too Pete and my children also. I have just lost a stone in weight since the July radiotherapy next thing they will be using radiotherapy to treat overweight people not those seriously ill with cancer. How times have changed. I hope santa still brings me some chocolate for Christmas its good for the soul.

It's the 24/7 oxygen limits my going out. I find the portable cylinders too heavy. My husband has to carry it..A nice sunny day and we live near some beautiful beaches , It woukd be nice to sit and watch the waves. Grab an ice cream , also some fish and chips be great xx.Sheila 👍

Hi, I don't post as much now but still rely on the forum for all the lovely friendship and support. My heath has gone downhill and so everything takes so long to do. Don't have the energy or breath to do any house work or post so much. Fingers crossed I will feel more like it if my health improves. Hi Boxermaid. I don't contribute as much as I used to but I'm still here. I tend to respond rather than post, if I think I can help. My husband died in February 2023 (I did post at that time to let members know). Since he died my life isn't the same and I've lost a lot of my old enthusiasm. However, I now have a grandson who is now 15 months old and I get a lot of joy from seeing him grow. Life is a constant challenge especially for people with long term health conditions. In general we are fighters who do our best not to give up. So keep on fighting everyone and I hope 2025 is good to you all. Thanks Boxermaid for you thoughtful post.

I’m celebrating this year at my youngest daughter’s with her husband my elder daughter and my grandson and my son.
