Our trip to Toulouse for 6 month check up for my wife went well. Her spirometry test was better than 6 months ago, no doubt all due to the physio and exercise. Next appointment in 9 months time.

We might complain about cost in France, but the service is very good. After a long wet winter, the results very good indeed.

Will send more story tomorrow.

cheers, Chris.

Good to hear that your wife is benefiting from physio. The cost of the nhs here is probably the same as you pay over there and you certainly get a better service. I am sure we will head down that road at some time. I have never known such a wet winter and hope that we get a warmer drier spring x

Thank you. Re costs: we are both retired but still work. We pay 170 £ per month NI and 200£ per month top up health insurance. Not quite the same as UK is it?

Its always seems so expensive when paying. I paid a bit more than that in NI when I was working , not sure how the system works in France re the percentage taken for pensions and such. Some people here now pay into private insurance like Bupa so it probably works about the same. The difference here is so many people not paying into the system. Although it does seem a whack on monthly outgoings when semi retired x

Our top up insurance covers the bit between what the Social Security pay, i.e. about 65% and the actual cost of medication, physio treatment, doctor`s visit, eye test etc. And a lot of doctors now charge more than the basic amount which isn`t taken into consideration. We are not complaining, the waiting times are nothing like UK. For example, blood tests done in the morning and results back in the afternoon. There is however a lot of waste in admin, and the amount thatt the pharmacy charges the S.S. for dispensing prescriptions. Obviously extra for out of hours. Must go and collect my wife after her physio session at the clinic, thankfully only 5 minutes in the car. Chris.
