Over the last few months we’ve been hearing from some of our supporters who have received unsolicited calls from individuals claiming to work for a loft insulation company or an “energy hub”. These have claimed to represent Asthma + Lung UK, or one of our legacy charities, British Lung Foundation. Paul, our Head of Supporter Care tells us more.

I had a call a few wks ago - they said blf said " blah blah" - saying blf alerted me to scam
Thank you for your reply , I know these products are not what they appear to be can cause unseen damage to your property and it appears you have no course for redress , even when you can prove mis sell incorrect installation , have a report and solicitors backing for the incorrect installation of the goods. However following much publicity you can get equity release now as long as you have the insulation removed with part of the equity release and new insulation installed. In my case I was quoted £10,000 to redo the loft . They did not make it clear that the foam is dangerous while drying and you should vacate the property for 72 hrs especially if you have a lung condition. I know its not endorsed by Asthma UK or BLF and this product does not save you money to the contrary it cost more money and devalues your property too. Avoid at all costs there are many new ways to insulate your loft these days so proceed with care .
