Primroses

The primroses in m garden have gone bananas this year and decided to beat the snowdrops. For some reason only the white ones have opened so far. This pic (cheating) was taken last April. Crawling around on a wet lawn and risking falling over or being unable to get up again, somehow does not appeal to me. My primroses are descended from a mixture of garden plants (all colours), polyanthuses, primulas and wild primroses, which have got here under their own steam. No! I would not dream of digging wild plants up. The wild colour has prevailed- good-with the occasional pink one. They come up where they choose, including on the lawn. Well, who wants grass- I like thuggy plants which can look after themselves. xxx

They are so pretty. I don’t blame you not wanting to crawl across the wet grass! It amazes me that primulas of all varieties of pop up where you least expect them to.

I noticed buds on my primroses last week, they are in pots which I moved to a sheltered place for the winter, our garden can be very windy. Now I'm wondering if I should move them out perhaps just during the daytime. Lovely picture by the way.

My primroses are out in the wind and the rain. They don't seem to care.

Lucky you to have your own snowdrops. I've tried, but I can't grow them .A gardening friend thinks it may be mice. I have to go to one of the local estates to see snowdrops. xxx

That’s a lovely picture Alberta. It certainly gladdens the heart to see the spring flowers returning. I have a little clump of snowdrops in flower at the moment. The primroses I have are more exposed so are still in bud but they’re working on it😊 I also saw my first hazel catkins when out for a short walk yesterday. Spring is coming!
