thirsty!

just wondering is it my inhaler that’s making me soooooo thirsty and I’m very croaky first thing too.

Good question 50shadesofgrey - For years I had no thirst problems with sprays. Now I have a thirst problem and I don't believe it's anything to do with sprays - Mine are Salamol - Fostair and Ipratropium bromide, sorry can't be of more help.

Thanks ern, I’m on spiolto it’s a dry mist spray. I’ve actually got an appointment with a respiratory nurse about my inhaler to check I’m taking it correctly as it’s my first time using and also to see if it suits I’m presuming lol. I’ve only been on it for a month lol. She might be able to help. Thanks again though x

I used to be on Spiolto and didn't notice ant thirst issues, sorry!! xx

I think a lot of medications cause thirst - I am almost sure steroid inhalers do. My GP prescribes me sprays, they are never available, I have given up x

Glad the respiratory nurse is going to check your technique, as that may help improve things for you.

I'm dry a lot of the time, and have filtered tap water with me everywhere I go: in a small bottle when I'm out and about, and in a glass beside my bed at night. I take Serevent twice a day, two puffs each time, using a spacer to help it go in the right direction, and then drink water or orange juice to rinse any residue from my mouth and throat. My voice has also become lower since taking inhalers, though I'm not quite a Fenella Fielding yet...

I am on Spiolto as well and wouldn’t say I’m thirsty but my mouth is always very dry when I wake up in the morning.

Hi. I too suffer with croaky voice most of the time. I take fostairnexthaler which is a dry powder. I can be thirsty sometimes during the night x

I have taken inhalers for years and they do sometimes make you feel croaky rinse mouth out is recommended. But agree about this thirst like taste I wake in the night with the same never used to . Put it down to the different things being given including the Covid Virus It seems to clear after a drink especially water. Worth trying fruit juice too. Good luck.
