Does anyone know of anyone who has suffered through lung disease caused by working in the textile industry, byssinosis, copd.
Cotton fibre : Does anyone know of... - Lung Conditions C...
Cotton fibre
Can't help you there myself, UptheTicks. But I do know that the fine fibres from working with fabrics over a long time can cause lung problems.
Hopefully someone will be along soon who has more experience of this.
I can't really help, bit I know during COVID that the fine fibres coming off a cotton face mask or the paper ones caused me to wheeze.
Thank you for the reply.
sorry I can’t help with that , but have you looked a Gov UK online on Industrial Injuries Disabled benefits ….I know you were turned down , but have you got address and time you worked in cotton factory and give the evidence to your MP .
It's stupid because I told them I have copd, not sure that's the right prognosis I need to speak to my doctor. If i have byssinosis another lung disease caused by cotton fibre it says on the forms I can claim for that. You need a degree in filling forms in I can see why people get frustrated and stressed 🤬
Try contacting AL UK help and support on helpline@asthmaandlung.org.uk or 03002225800 and see if they can help you fill out the forms or give you guidance about it.
Wishing you all the best.
I thought I was the only one who this has happened to. I am a smoker and I know this doesn't help but when I was 16 I worked in a sewing factory for 11 years didn't think it was connected but lately a few people I worked with all these years ago have died with lung complications eg emphysema and lung cancer it makes me wonder if all these fibres that went in your mouth and up your nose for all these years could have contributed to the problem.
