Greedy seagulls and Port Merion

10+ years ago, went on motorcycle every year to various seaside resorts, including Llandudno and Aberystwyth. Usually took packed lunch with us so could sit on bench overlooking beach and sea. Didn’t have problem first few times, but gradually gulls started to get aggressive and diving at us to grab food. We tried putting our helmets on to protect our heads, but they were not to be deterred! So we had to give up and find places inland where we could eat. Happy Days. We saw advert for Portmerion and if bought lunch there, could go into gardens etc free. It’s was great, we were able to leave our leathers and helmets at cloakroom, had nice lunch on terrace and had lovely afternoon strolling all round. It was bit long day, but well worth it. Love Portmerion. First went there in 1973, as a homage to The Prisoner TV series.

yes that series was good. very strange at first . was it that long ago ? went round identifying the places seen on tv.

Such happy memories Jean and good to look back on. My friend lived in Llandudno for a number of years and when I went to visit the seagulls were not only a nuisance but dangerous, so glad you escaped them x

We stay in the hotel there every year, its truly magical,especially at night

that’s good. Have friends who stayed there, very happy. Unfortunately unless we had made prior arrangements we couldn’t as my mother lived alone near us might press her button and we would have to go to help. She lived until age 111, when NHS killed her off under Liverpool Care Plan, that’s another story. Jean x
