Hi Can anyone help with Travel Insurance for Europe for pre-existing illnesses such as COPD they charge a fortune.

There must be some reasonable ones out there.

I used Staysure previously but this was pre Covid so not sure how relevant would be now. It certainly wasn’t cheap to get insurance but I was so delighted to be covered when I have multiple health issues.

Staysure and Avanti are administered by Ergo Travel Ltd and claims are handled by Davies Group. Be aware they take months to process claims. It is impossible to get through to the claims department by phone.

I have recently experienced this. I had to pay a very large medical bill myself, then wait 4 months for this inefficient bunch to reimburse me. In the meantime I was forced to use savings. For this reason I would not recommend them.Stay away from any companies that are administered by Ergo Travel Ltd and Davies Group. Check the small print.

We have insurance through Barclays. Before our travels last year I informed them of my Lupus, ILD, PF and APS. The payment stayed the same. It’s a few quid a month (I think around a fiver) but we go abroad for holiday at least twice a year and husband travels at least once a month with work so it’s worth it for us. He has Crohn’s and colitis and that’s included too.

That sounds like a good deal BrigidsFire and paying monthly eases the cost, I will check this out next time I am travelling thank you x

We just shop around every year making sure to check reviews. It is expensive but we have learnt to include it in the cost of the holiday. This year we've gone with Insurefor.com. (Two weeks in Ibiza. 🏖🙂 )

My hubby always books with Hays travel. He has multiple illnesses and they always been excellent for quotes for insurance. 😊

We have an annual travel insurance with our flex plus account at nationwide. Last year it was just over £200 excess to pay for my existing conditions. I’m not on oxygen so I’m sure that will inflate prices. X

We were with Staysure but got a better quote this year with Liverpool Victoria.

I have RA Epilepsy Asthma Bronchiectasis. It’s worth shopping around but it takes time.

Hi dreanaw, if there is such a company please tell me. I took out my annual travel insurance yesterday at a cost of £866. Thank goodness I am able to afford more than one holiday. If you cannot afford to cover all yr medical problems you can waive them and just pay the normal insurance cost. I haven't been brave enough to try this. Good luck with yr search. Maximonkey

Thank You for your response .Understand more needs to be paid for pre-existing medical issues but some off these Insurers want far too much.Dreanaw
