Hello Jaybird19. Specsavers do home visits, don't know about Boots? Dawn. 🥰

I had a test at home by Specsavers 2 years ago. I couldn't see properly with the first prescription so called them back. The second prescription was worse so I booked at the store in town. My husband was good enough to get me there in my wheelchair and third time lucky, the prescription I got was fine. It then took me a long time to get a refund from the domiciliary service but it was worth it in the end.

As others have said Specsavers definitely do tests at home. If you are keen to go to a Boots then it would be worth checking where their branches are. You may find a branch much easier to get to via a taxi.

maybe they have a back entrance you could use providing they haven’t a lot of steps up. Give them a ring and ask or you could ring your local council to see if you could be driven to your appointment. There must be a way somehow for disabled people.

That does seem a problem. Is the whole area pedestrianised or are vehicles allowed at certain times for delivery etc? Do you have a blue badge which might give you access?

I had ny eyes tested last year I was fed up with learners and getting glasses that didn't fit so I went for the home visit two men came and it was a pleasure to be tested and they fixed my glasses that kept flopping around and today the glasses are still like new they are tight to open instead of flopping and I didn't need new glasses. I give them100 out of 100%

Hubby’s been using Specsavers for a few years now even all the follow up after cataract surgery was done at home . They do hearing tests too , I’m not certain but presumably they can be done at home too x

Hi Jaybird19. Specsavers do not do home visits where I live so you will need to check as the advert can be misleading. About 4 months ago I contacted Outside Clinic. They were superb. As the saying goes you get what you pay for. Their glasses are more expensive than specsavers but the quality is second to none. Cost me just shy of £ 1000 for distance glasses, reading glasses and sun glasses but in terms of quality they fit so much better, extremely light weight and the lens are thinner and no longer feel like I have a lump of metal/plastic on the end of my nose. Although it's quite an outlay, for me it was worth it for the comfort alone.
