john 74 lives alone with dog - no relatives in touch as i know what a set of thieving lieing set they are happy with that as dogs are far more superior in there way of life than people-if dogs were running this country or any it would be a much better place to live in , the only other thing i have to say is for people like me being on my own nobody calls to see you or phones being constantly in pain depressed and the icing on the cake chronic fatigue if you dont have this yet you are in for a treat when you do and when you ask for something that will really help and get rid of all your pain and suffering like they do for dogs and other animals and even murderers as in usa one jab you go to sleep all pain worry and suffering gone- yes nembutal but say this to any dr nurse anyone in the health business and you would think you had said you were going to rape then murder all their family and you will probably never read this as the ones who know what is best for us will stop it being shown , i would wish you all a nice peaceful death but if you have copd you are not going to have one , john

Hi John.

You seem to be in a very dark place right now.

There are many people here, from all walks of life with many different lung conditions, each and everyone one willing to offer support where they can.

Do you have copd?

I understand the analogy between people and dogs. Talk to me if you ever want to.

Hi JohnI am here too. Currently in a nursing home being assessed with lots of time on my hands. I would love to chat to you. I love dogs. My last dog was a GSD called Brian and it broke my heart when he died. It is never fair is it that something that becomes so precious to us is with us only a short time. However I suppose we should be grateful for that. My name is Hazel and I care.

Hi John I’m so sorry you are feeling so low. As the others have said you can chat to people on here. We are all willing to try and cheer you up. Also ring the helpline. They can probably put you in touch with someone that will understand what you are feeling and find you some help at the right place. I hope just posting to us has got you cheered up a bit. I suffer a lot of pain but I still love to see the sun rise every day. There is still beauty in this world if you look for it.

There’s still a god life to lead despite pain. I know it’s very difficult both with pain and not being able to breathe very well. But like you I can see other beautiful things in the world. I watch A place in the Sun on tv and it transports me to holidays in the sun I used to go on. Ahh! Memories.

Hi John, I hear you & I’m probably no where near as bad as you yet. I do have an increasing amount of aches & pains as I can’t exercise because I don’t have the energy, nor frankly descipline anymore. And yes the constant fatigue will eventually drive anyone to despair. Fully agree nembutal should be legalised - give it about 20 years. That’s not much good for you.

The real tragedy is that they have cures for many illnesses. Any doctor who comes forward with these successful treatments will end up in jail. I'm not sure how you feel about religion, but having faith makes the hard times a little easier.

Dear rat69 I can see where you're coming from and agree that most animals are put down humanely. I certainly wouldn't allow my dog to suffer and would also like to choose when I go. Unfortunately Assisted Dying won't be passed in our lifetime. A friend recently died after years of appalling pain due to rare cancers he also campaigned for years in support of the above whilst watching his own young daughter suffer for years before finally being released.

I have often wondered what's the point but I have children and 6 small grandchildren so couldn't put them through it.

There are people out there who can support, AgeUK maybe able to point you in the direction . Also, have you spoken to your GP to let them knowhow you feel?

Thinking of you. Peege

Couldn't agree more John to go with dignity should be a human right, we do not let animals suffer but will watch our dearest suffer dreadfully at the end. Its just so cruel.

Hi John, I live alone with my dog Bella and I know how you feel , I’m a bit of a loner so it doesn’t bother me not seeing anyone, I’m 76 , but for you it would be good if you could have a chat with someone, maybe start with the helpline on here,

Hi, John. I've been where you are and know how difficult it is not to project the present onto the future when you are depressed and in pain. Do take up some of the suggestions others have made in their replies to you here. You've already come a great step forward by writing this post. Every blessing, M.
