to all dear unlocked friends. Because my breathing/infection was not clearing I spoke to doc just now. He has changed antibiotics and wants to speak next week. At the same time I asked if he was ever going to give in and let me have nebuliser. He said buy one and I’m sending the meds to your chemist now. So now I need to buy one asap. Local pharmacy don’t have one in stock. Is it likely a big Boots store on IOW will have one. I have tried phoning and there’s no reply. And any particular recommendations when I do track one down? I am so grateful for all the help. Daisy

Great news. I use an Omron portable nebuliser that I’m very happy with. Have tried different makes but found not as good. Mine was purchased via Amazon. Otherwise there is a company called Evergreen who are very helpful. Look up Evergreen nebuliser machines and you will find them.

Go on line to beurer medical - delivery is excellent. Failing that ask your surgery if you could borrow one of theirs until yours arrives.

I have also seen them in - I believe it was - the Chums catalogue.

LOL Bardear xxxx

like Bevvy , I have an Omron which I bought online free m Omron. You may be able to get next day.delivery, the delivery date before you buy.

I really can’t understand your GP s attitude. I live in Derbyshire’ my nebuliser was given to me. Y the county respiratory team . After discharge I was visited 4 times to check my inhaler/nebuliser techniques

The team’s rationale is to support patients at home and support them so that hopefully

They can stay out of hospital. When I was originally in hospital for 11 days at the point of diagnosis, my nebuliser. Mask was never cleaned/ washed. It was hung over the oxygen valve the entire stay

evergreen nebulisers ….have a look at their website .

Not the cheapest I don’t think …but so helpful .

Contact them by phone or email and they will discuss what’s best for your needs …portable , battery or mains …and type of medication . How best to use it , clean it etc .

Ask them first what’s best . I have two omron …one tiny battery , one mains . I only use mine in an emergency now .

Also have a chat to ALUK helpline on 0300 222 5800

Ah brilliant, well done you. I recall several members have had to buy their own nebuliser over the years and GPs have been willing enough to prescibe the meds for them.

When I had to get a blood pressure machine the surgery recommended Omron because that's the brand the NHS use

My nebuliser was prescribed when I was admitted to hospital and given to me before being discharged a few years ago . It has just now stopped working so phoned my COPD team and they are delivering a new one to me today. I dont use it regularly only when I feel need to xxSheila

This is very similar to what happened to me. My lovely lung consultant mentioned that I needed a nebuliser to improve my breathing but he knew that gp surgeries in my area wouldn’t fund the machine. He suggested that I buy my own nebuliser and that he would write to my gp instructing them to prescribe the medication. This seems to work quite well. I bought an Omron machine from Amazon.

I hate to say this but the behemoth that is Amazon has a few different brands, including portable ones. I understand the NHS has stopped supplying them recently. Good luck. I saw Bevvy mention the Omron brand, if it is as good as their other products that is the one I would buy.

Ring or email evergreen nebulisers. Tell them what meds you will be using and they will recommend. They post out straight away. I’ve never found them overly expensive and they don’t charge the VAT which some other companies would. You shouldn’t pay this on the basis of having a chronic illness. Of course you can get their recommendations and shop around. I don’t think you will find them in boots. Well done for semi breaking down your GP!
