Copd?

I had severe breathing problems, couldn't sleep, felt like I was only breathing a portion of the oxygen I intake. Was sent for several tests: X-ray= Lung hyperinflation, ECG=Normal, Spirometry=(Normal pre bronchodilator(93%), abnormal post bronchodilator), Blood pressure= 140, not less than 130 (fluctuates) , oOxygen Level =Normal (98-99%)I was placed on medication= bronchodilator

Now, what happens is that my breathing is mostly okay when I'm lying on my back, but when I stand up to move, or any activity, my chest suddenly feels tight and it seems to interfere with normal breathing, forcing me to lie back down.

Could this be COPD? What do I do?

Hi , abnormal spirometer reading post bronchodilator …..did I read that right ?

Oxygen level ….fine .

Given a bronchodilator to use for feelings of breathlessness ? Just wondering how much you use it …..is it Ventolin ?

I would try getting up in stages.if yr in bed slowly sit up,pause and breathe,thn sit on edge of bed for a cpl of minutes,breathe,before slowly standing,pause again + concentrate on breathing deep+ slow,before walking slowly.if it doesn't help,I'd ask dr or nurse to check yr bp etc sitting and standing x

Only a doctor can give you a diagnosis of COPD. It sounds as if you need to talk to a respiratory therapist who will help you to manage your breathing. See if you can get your GP to arrange this.
